The Friends of Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge were among 8 volunteers on October 6, 2021, who planted and watered shrubs, trees and flowering plants in the Falmouth Rod & Gun Club’s fields adjacent to the Childs River Restoration project. Planting these fields was part of the Monarch Restoration Project that started in 2016 and continues into our 6th year! The original grant was for 2 years, but volunteers at the club have continued to manage and invest, along with the Friends guidance and assistance, to add more flowering nectar plants and shrubs and trees that provide fruits and nuts for migrating and overwintering wildlife.
