Unfortunately, at 12:30pm on April 1st, the osprey nest platform at the Waquoit Bay Reserve fell away due to high winds and rotted boards. After several hours of frantically exploring options, The Osprey Project of Falmouth came to our rescue! On Sunday morning, April 2nd, a team assembled including the Osprey Project, Moriarty Tree, Waquoit Bay Reserve, Falmouth Conservation Department, the Friends of Mashpee NWR and a few others. We are so grateful to everyone who played a role in the effort. The platform was quickly replaced, and the ospreys, who had been soaring overhead the whole time, seem happiest of all.
Our job done, the ospreys can now get back to nest building. Thank you to Barbara Schneider and Kevin Friel of the Falmouth Osprey Project, Mick Moriarty of Moriarty Tree, Glenn Davis of the Friends of Mashpee NWR, Mark Kasprysk of the Falmouth Conservation Department, Tonna-Marie Rogers of the Waquoit Bay Reserve and several others who assisted the effort! It was an amazing response by dedicated people determined to not let a fallen nest stand in the way of a successful nesting season for these beloved creatures!
Thanks again to everyone who made this possible!

Great team work! How is the platform secured to the base?
It is securely fastened with screws. In the interest of keeping it short, that part was edited out of the video.
