Our Third Annual Walk for the Wild (WFTW) was a big success! Thanks to everyone who walked, donated, volunteered, supported us in other ways or attended our celebration event at Naukabout Brewery!

If you participated, please check your email for our feedback survey of your experience and submit your responses by Thursday October 24th. Your feedback will be valuable to us in planning next year’s WFTW.

And if you haven’t already and would like to donate, it’s not too late. Donations made through the registration website can be made until October 31st. We nearly reached our $2,000 goal of donations. And this amount will be partially matched by an Amplifier Fund of national donors to the Public Lands Alliance, so our final total will be even more!

This walk itself was amazing! Close to 30 people walked the entire 5k (3.1 mile) trail on a beautiful Fall day through segments of the Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge. Some groups of walkers were accompanied by U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service Ranger Wilson Acuna, which made it especially educational. Others were treated to infographics with videos and other highlights of the habitats found along the way. Special thanks to Grace Vachon, our AmeriCorps Cape Cod 2023-24 member for her efforts with that!

And to top it off, the walk ended at Naukabout Brewery, where participants enjoyed special brews, raffles, a silent auction, kids crafts and more. It was a celebration for all ages!

Walk for the Wild was co-hosted by the Friends of Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge and the Town of Mashpee Recreation and Conservation departments.
