Fisher Cat Observed in Mashpee

This week, the Friends received a report that a fisher cat was observed near the Mingo Conservation Area. It appeared to be a baby and was possibly injured. We suggested contacting the Birdsey Cape Wildlife Center at 508-362-0111. It is always best not to approach these seemingly cute animals, since even when young, they have sharp teeth and can be dangerous.

The habitat where it was found was described as low lying woods and hills with abundant mushrooms, rabbits and a nearby farm with chickens and horses.
