Welcome to “Season Three” of our osprey cam! Get ready for another exciting season of osprey viewing at the Waquoit Bay Reserve, brought to you by the Friends of Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge
If you’d like to show your appreciation for the nest cam, please Support the Friends of Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge! As a nonprofit volunteer organization, we support a wide variety of education, research and stewardship projects within the Mashpee Refuge to ensure the long-term protection and enhancement of native wildlife and habitats.
Thank you in advance!
We are thrilled to offer this live stream of an active pair of Osprey at their nest at Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. The pair are appropriately named Rachel and Carson, after the famed environmentalist.
This opportunity for a bird’s eye view of a beloved bird’s habitat is the result of a collaboration between The Friends of Mashpee National Wildlife Refuge, which helped plan and locate the site for this unique “nest cam,” the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, one of the Refuge partners, and Comcast, which generously provided the equipment, installation and broadband connectivity to power this viewing experience.
One of our goals as a community-based nonprofit is to give the public opportunities to enjoy and interact with nature and wildlife. Thanks to Comcast, the live streaming of this osprey nest will broaden our reach to all of Cape Cod and beyond. We are grateful for the opportunity to use the live nest cam for observation, research and education purposes.

You bet. I will have my cousin and family from Connecticut go to this link and comment since their 19 year old son completely loves watching Rachel and Carson and appreciates learning about osprey and other raptor birds!
Thanks Merc! I’m always happy to hear of people watching from other areas. Thanks for spreading the word!
Done!
Thanks Laura, and to everyone who rated us on the GreatNonProfites site! We’ve now earned a place on their Top-Rated list for the third year in a row!

This actually was first pic
Interesting to watch the babies exercising their wings! How old are they when they learn to fly and leave the next. At times mom seems very nervous about them leaving the nest.
WOW! Outstanding picture! Thanks so much. Happy 4th!
Breakfast has arrived….
..actually it was just a stick this time
Gorgeous photo Barry. The back lighting of the tail is amazing.
Outstanding pic! Love it 🥰
Chicks are feeding & noticed chicks starting to feed on their own…06-29 17:35ish
Hoping Glenn will post
Just posted a clip of this. Thanks Dena!
Hi Glenn, thanks for post…I went back to last season & on 06/30/22 you posted chicks self feeding so we are certainly at the exact point this year as last year. Very cool! This season has been a bit easier to watch. Last season was real difficult watching Charlie struggle to survive each day. Such determination, I hope he is thriving!
“Chicks self feeding 6-30-22 (The oldest chick picks away at the tail of a fish, then a few minutes later, the second claims it for itself. Rachel watched patiently, then later had some and fed the two younger ones.)”
THANK U GLENN AND EVERYONE, YOUR SPECIAL
Rachel has her wings spread over chicks to keep them cool – happy family! 👍
We’re working on the issue. Hope to have it back up within the hour.
Oddly enough I can see the cam on my iPhone just fine but unable to see it on my iPad.
Ok – correction – I can see on my iPhone but video freezes.
That was happening to me too, which was strange, but fortunately, a reset of the modem took care of the issue. All good now!
ITS 9 AM SCREEN STILL BLACK, IM VERY CONCERNED, HOPE THEY ARE SAFE, THEY HAVE BECOME MY FAMILY, I WATCH THEM SEVERAL TIMES A DAY….
Here is a local alternative while this cam is down.

Thank you for sharing this link!
You are welcome…..interesting to note last year this nest fledged 3 chicks and did so well ahead of Mashpee. This year, as one can see, this nest is way behind Mashpee. The nest is at least a foot taller than last year and it was very difficult to see what exactly was going on. These two chicks are at least 5 days apart in age and the female has long since given up on incubating the third egg.
8:34 a.m. 6/29/23 , screen will not open. totally black.
Same here.
I CANNOT OPEN, SCREEN ALL BLACK, WHY SINCE 5;30.
Can’t open the screen either
All together now, Carson just delivered a fish
Hi Sandy, when I posted pic only saw the one fish…good size. One chick was eating the other preening its feather’s & didn’t seem interested…from your pic this look’s to be the same fish I saw Carson deliver.
There’s a nice looking fish in the nest after they ate. Did Dad bring more than one?
Fish….or what’s left of one?
Leftovers 😆 midnight snack
Here he is, LOL!!! Just flew in with a fish 🐟
Anyone seen Carson today?
I missed a few days observation. The chick’s feathers have changed so much, though they are still camouflaged in the nest!
One of the chicks is standing up ! (Not walking on his knees.)
They were both standing in the early evening last night. Their feet are massive for their body size! They were both also practicing flapping their wings.
Rachel and the 2 chicks are watching their live “people cam” as humans in big strange machines work on the driveway adjacent to the nest pole.
😂
I need a life lol. Following 4 osprey nests. One in NY has 4 “teenagers”. Mom was feeding one, one seemed to be asleep and the other 2 kept pocking their heads over mom to see what was going on. Was so funny.
Still like this one the best because of audio, ability to comment, people capturing an incident and finally the great Glenn who documents the year. Waquoit cam rocks it! So glad I donated!
are you following this pair of Osprey at the baseball field in Oxford Ma? 2 chicks…if not you can now add it to your others…no night vision Also make sure to check out their hall of fame postings, very cool!

Here is another one to add to your list if you’re not already watching it. My sister turned me onto it last year. It’s the Chesapeake Conservancy and they have a night vision camera, the Osprey pair is Audrey and Tom. They have recaps of the last eight seasons on the right hand side. This nest has had some real ups and downs. In fact, Tom did not return this season and Audrey stood for the longest time on a bare nesting platform ( so sad) till she finally after a few weeks accepted a new mate (who is now the new Tom) and they have one hatchling. But it’s an interesting community to follow the comments and pictures on but not as good as our cam….it’s the best. Many thanks to Glenn and all!
I appreciate all of the links to other osprey cam sites. It is interesting for me to see how different organizations present all of the information – the live feed, the highlights, the stories of the birds, general osprey info and the behind-the-scenes action. I continue to learn for this year and the future. Thanks to all who have shared these, and thanks for your support and appreciation of our site!
Going to check it out. Thanks
Thanks and yes I’ve got this one.
who needs tv when we have this…. AMAZING
When does dad get to eat?
10:30 am: Carson delivers Sunday brunch!
6/24 at 22:00. Mom is balancing on one leg and her head drops as she drifts off to sleep
